What you didn’t know about the Chevrolet Corvette

The Chevrolet Corvette - the iconic American sport car. Despite hitting the sixth decade of production it is no closer to an end of sales than it was on day one. The popularity of this car is still at its height. But are you sure you know all about it? Albert Lakey, a professional artist and writer for and , made a list of things you might have not known about the Corvette.
The name came from the sea
You all guessed the word «Corvette» is unlikely to be American. It is actually a French one referred to a class of small warship. This word by far works perfectly with the car since the naval corvette as is similarly named Chevrolet is aggressive and maneuverable, yet highly uncomfortable for long distance journeys.
The only option
As it turns out, Chevrolet didn’t have certain clear intentions on building the Corvette. The response to pre-produced model of Corvette at New York’s exhibition was so great that Chevrolet decided to give it a try. Consequently, only 300 models were issued in white and red, all hand-built.
With these two things mentioned we've just peeled the first lay of the onion...
