Jeep Compass's new successor on the way


Jeep continues to road test the new crossover that is meant to replace two models in the model range of the brand - Compass and Liberty (Patriot). Photospies were the first to photograph the interior of the vehicle, according to Motor1. Front panel design resembles Grand Cherokee. The car will get a big touch screen multimedia system and large air ducts.

The crossover will be built on the Small Wide platform. According to unofficial data, the vehicle will be equipped with the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder engine having 160 hp and 250 Nm of torque. In addition, some variations for the engine will be available, namely 2.4-liter Tigershark with 184 hp and 236 Nm of torque. Also, the model will be equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine.

The car was earlier planed to be presented in March 2016 at the Auto Show in New York. According to Mike Manley, the CEO of Jeep, public car debut is now postponed to the third quarter of 2016. The main competitors of the model will be the Nissan Qashqai, the Kia Sportage and the Mazda CX-5.

Later, the crossover will get a special version called Trailhawk intended for heavy off-road driving. The company is conducting tests of this modification at the moment. The main difference of the new modification from the standard version is two red tow hooks and other kind of front bumper. The crossover will also get round fog lamps and a rear spoiler.
